WESTLAKE — An Avon Lake woman had her wallet stolen while at Bar Louie in Crocker Park on Saturday afternoon, and more than $4,000 in charges were made on her accounts.
According to a news release from the Westlake police, the woman’s wallet was removed from her purse between 5 p.m. and 5:43 p.m. After that, three unsuccessful attempts were made to withdraw $1,000 using her debit card. There were also three attempts — all declined — to charge a total of $6,000 on her personal American Express Card.
Her corporate card was successfully used at Target for the purchase of $4,000 in gift cards, but two other attempted charges totaling $4,078 were declined. Surveillance footage was taken of the people trying to use her cards.
