CLEVELAND —  The Cleveland FBI office said there is a connection between the recent abduction case of Nevaeh Wylie and an attempted abduction in Elyria.

The FBI said the individual, a person they are calling a “person of interest” was linked forensically to both cases. Nevaeh, 6, of Cleveland was missing for 17 hours and released around 9 p.m. Sat. May 21.

The Elyria incident dates back to Feb. 25 when, at about 3:45 a.m., police were called to 606 Furnace St. after a 10-year-old girl’s father was awoken by his daughter running into his bedroom screaming. The father told police his daughter said someone grabbed her legs and tried to pull her out of her bedroom window.

At that time, the girl described the person as a white male in his 30s with brown eyes, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood tied tightly around the face.

“The subject told the victim to cooperate and neither she nor her family would get hurt,” a police report said. “The victim was able to break free and run into her father’s room for help.”

The father went outside and noticed that someone had removed a step ladder from his work vehicle and placed the ladder against the house and underneath his daughter’s window.

Police did not find a suspect after a search of the neighborhood.

The incident took place about six hours before three separate incidents in Lorain involving school girls on the way to school. Each time, young girls said a man approached them in an aggressive way.
