A Westlake man is facing a host of charges after police say he intentionally rammed a car and confronted the occupants of the car, itching for a gunfight.
William Keener, 67, is currently in the Westlake jail on two counts each of felonious assault, aggravated menacing and possession of criminal tools, as well as single charges of criminal damaging and criminal mischief. He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail and faces a court date June 2 in Rocky River Municipal Court.
Police say Keener was in his car when he pulled up alongside another car, and exchanged words with the couple in it. He then ran into their car multiple times, police said, and Keener got out of his car on Detroit Road near Crocker Road while threatening the occupants of the other car.
The man who was a passenger in the other car said he had a concealed carry permit and showed his holstered weapon. Keener said he also had a concealed carry permit and reached for a pistol in his waistband, telling the other man to draw his weapon. Police responded and arrested Keener, finding a second gun in his car.
A protection order was also issued ordering Keener to stay away from the victims.
