WESTLAKE — Police are advising area business owners to be on the lookout for a woman they say has stolen tip jars from counters of local businesses.
Police have issued misdemeanor petty theft warrants for Stepfanie Eshack, 29, in connection with the theft of tip jars from a Jersey Mike’s store March 7, and a Starbucks coffee house March 21, according to information provided by Westlake police Capt. Guy Turner.
Turner was unavailable for comment, but a police advisory warned business owners in the West Shore area to be wary of Eshack, whose last known address was in Norton.
They said she enters businesses but does not make purchases, then waits until store employees are occupied, grabs the tip jars and runs out.
Police said they believe she exits businesses to a waiting vehicle.
Eshack pleaded no contest to petty theft charges in Garfield Heights Municipal Court last week, and no contest to receiving stolen property in Rocky River Municipal Court on March 15.
The Rocky River charge stemmed from an incident similar to those in Westlake, police said.
Anyone with information of Eshack’s whereabouts is asked to contact Westlake police at (440) 871-3311.
