Sullivan man critical after one-vehicle wreck

HUNTINGTON TWP — A Sullivan man is in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after police said he crashed the pickup truck he was driving into a tree in front of 259440 state Route 58 about 11:45 p.m. Monday.

Matthew McGlocklin, 22, was southbound in a 1998 Dodge Ram when he veered left into a tree, said trooper Vern Pickering of the Ohio Highway Patrol Elyria post. McGlocklin, who had to be extricated from the pickup, was taken MetroHealth, where a nursing supervisor said he was in critical condition shortly before 8 a.m.

Pickering said the cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation. He said McGlocklin suffered a head injury and he was unable to speak to him.

Pickering said he was unsure if McGlocklin was wearing his seatbelt or what speed he was traveling. The posted speed limit is 55 mph.
